Here for sale is large lunch-box sized model number E-675-124 Philco portable tube-type radio in an all-leather case, AC cord inside, & uses those weird 64V batteries for use on that cloudy day at the beach. Handle is intact & usable, very clean inside, wall cord even safe to use.
Controls work smoothly, the on/off switch has this solid thunk, the tuning knob insert is missing as usual, but just no sign of life on AC power. Might be eminently fixable, it uses just four very common tubes, $20 worth, same as in Zenith transoceanic radios. I didn’t undertake any repairs except to clean up the leather surfaces, which brought out the orangey color with some of the seams needing a restitching.
It still displays great with the (undented) metal grille and the classy Philco logo trim on the front.
Made in 1956/1957, heavy old tube-type chassis and measures 9” wide by 7-12” tall by 3-1/2” wide.
Fits right on the shelf of your vintage 1950’s Mt. Shasta or Airstream!
