Offered for sale is an original c1910 Dartmouth College tobacco leather from the L40 College Pennant, Yell & Emblem series.
This large-format tobacco premium measures approximately 3.5” × 2.5” and features a striking dark green/black and silver Dartmouth design.
The elaborate scene features a large “D” pennant, a historical portrait with feathered headdress, and an early Dartmouth college yell reading in part:
The combination of college pennant, school yell and emblematic imagery is characteristic of the L40 College Pennant, Yell & Emblem tobacco leather series.
Condition: Original antique condition with age-related surface wear, crazing/cracking, spotting and edge/corner wear. There is noticeable loss/wear to the silver-colored finish, particularly along the right side of the design, as well as scattered surface wear elsewhere.
Despite the wear, the D pennant, portrait and Dartmouth yell remain bold and clearly visible, with excellent contrast between the dark background and metallic silver design.
No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.
