NOTE: I have recently acquired a literal treasure trove of WW1 and WW2 military items and will be listing them in the coming months. All of the items were destined for the landfill, until my sister in law rescued them! Stay tuned…
Original World War I Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) – Camp Fremont, Menlo Park, California.
Up for sale is an authentic, original WWI-era Real Photo Postcard depicting military personnel undergoing field drills at Camp Fremont in Menlo Park, California. This historic base was established in 1917 to train the U.S. Army's 8th Division before deployment to Europe.
Postcard Features & Dating:
• Front: A crisp, wide-angle silver halide photograph showing soldiers in an open training formation flanked by scattered trees.
• Back: Features a neat handwritten vintage pencil notation identifying the location: "Camp Fremont, Menlo Pk."
• Stamp Box: Displays the classic AZO logo with four upward-pointing triangles (▲▲▲▲). This specific paper manufacturing mark dates the postcard directly to the 1904–1918 window, aligning perfectly with the active years of the camp (1917–1919).
Condition Report:
This antique card is in Very Good condition. It has not been postmarked or written on (aside from the neat pencil location mark). The corners and edges show minor, age-appropriate wear, but there are no major creases, tears, or heavy surface stains. The photographic contrast remains clear and distinct. Please review the high-resolution scans of both the front and back to evaluate the exact condition before purchasing.
Shipping & Handling:Will be shipped securely in a protective archival sleeve and a rigid cardboard mailer to ensure safe arrival. Tracking included.
