1. \"A TOUS LES FRANÇAIS\" handbill. Approx. 6.5\" x 10\", printed one side in French, blue and red tricolour border, crossed French flags, facsimile de Gaulle signature, and the Free French HQ address: Quartier-Général, 4 Carlton Gardens, London S.W.1. No printer\'s name, no date.
This is the text de Gaulle wrote in late July 1940 — often confused with the 18 June BBC broadcast, but a separate and later composition. The full-size poster version was first pasted up on London walls over the weekend of 3–4 August 1940 and reported in The Times of 5 August.
The sheet carries the typographic faults of the earliest London setting: the \"d\" in servitude is an inverted \"p\", and Français appears without its cedilla in the penultimate paragraph.
2. \"FRANCE LIBRE — HONNEUR ET PATRIE\" leaflet. Cross of Lorraine to the front; reverse with two press photographs captioned CELEBRATION A LONDRES DE LA FETE DE JEANNE D\'ARC, 11 MAI 1941 — the Mass at Westminster Cathedral where Cardinal Hinsley, with Admiral Muselier, blessed the Free French troops, and the march-past after the presentation of colours. Thin paper, anonymous, no printer or date. The Musée de la Libération / Jean Moulin in Paris holds the same item, catalogued as an anonymous propaganda leaflet. Condition fair: creasing, edge tears, small corner loss, light foxing.
3. Free French bookmark. Printed both sides, near mint. Front: France Libre lozenge badge, the \"La France a perdu une bataille\" line, and a de Gaulle portrait credited to Howard Coster, the London portrait photographer whose 1940 de Gaulle negatives are held by the National Portrait Gallery. Reverse: the destroyer LE TRIOMPHANT and a quotation from de Gaulle\'s BBC broadcast of 31 October 1941. A British compositor\'s slip — \"Le 31 october\" — confirms London production.
4. Four photographic portraits of de Gaulle: one mounted in a black card mount, one large unmounted print, one postcard size, and a shipboard image with binoculars.
