Field Marshall Phillipe Petain, French WWI war hero and Vichy President during German occupation. Although historically treated as a collaborator and traitor,  there is some debate as to his motivations and actions during this period. He was known as an anti-semite although not necessarily a fascist. Strong historical allegiance to France during WWI, he was definitely a conservative, military man with mission.  This silk handkerchief is from the Vichy government propaganda programs during WW2 promoting the arts and hero worship of Petain. Fabulous art piece for any serious collector of military or French history.
