A striking piece of Portland press history — a large 8” round black glass display plate commemorating the shared home of The Oregonian and Oregon Journal, Portland’s two rival newspapers that operated together under Newhouse ownership from 1961 until the Journal’s closure in 1982.
The plate features a beautifully rendered gold illustration of the modernist building, complete with clouds, set against a deep black glass ground. The text reads “The Oregonian AND Oregon Journal” in elegant gold lettering — the two mastheads together, exactly as they appeared during their shared-office era.
