I have personally owned this badge/ hat pin over 20 years. I have been able to find very little information on this particular badge, so I ask that you be the judge on this item’s description and if it way off base please let me know so I can be more accurate and forthcoming. Thank you!
Up for sale is a rare, vintage U.S. Naval Supply Depot Security Police Badge. This unique piece of military law enforcement history features a center circular emblem with the "U.S. NAVAL SUPPLY DEPOT / USN" text encircling the iconic navy abbreviation, flanked by decorative floral wreaths. The lower banner prominently reads "SECURITY POLICE" with an open top banner design typical of mid-century civilian and auxiliary military contract security forces.
The badge exhibits an authentic aged patina with substantial oxidation and surface wear on both the front and reverse, adding remarkable historical character to the piece. The reverse side features an old, early-style soldered-on safety pin attachment mechanism. There are no visible manufacturer maker marks on the back.
This is a phenomenal addition for collectors of military police memorabilia, USN naval history, or obsolete law enforcement insignia. Please review the high-resolution photographs carefully to assess the precise aesthetic condition, oxidation, and hardware placement.
