Up for sale is a gorgeous, authentic vintage Mola textile panel expertly hand-crafted by the indigenous Guna Kuna artisans of Guna Yala (the San Blas Islands) in Panama.
This highly decorative piece features a beautifully balanced, symmetrical composition showcasing two large, stylized birds facing one another. Their wings are detailed with brilliant, multi-colored vertical geometric slits. Nestled between them is a smaller blue avian figure, with a stylized quadruped animal walking along the lower border, surrounded by vibrant decorative fill stitches.
The panel highlights the elite skill of traditional reverse applique. Multiple layers of high-saturation cotton fabric (red, burgundy, blue, yellow, orange, green, and pink) are precisely cut away and hand-turned with wonderfully neat accent embroidery.
The textile is wrapped over a rigid backing board and neatly secured into a vintage gold-toned wooden frame. It is structurally sound, in beautiful display-ready shape, and makes an excellent standout addition to any folk art, global textile, or bohemian home decor collection.

This mola panel is in Excellent Vintage Condition. The colors remain incredibly bold and saturated, and all hand-stitching is perfectly tight and secure. Unlike many textiles of this age, this piece has been remarkably well-preserved and features no stains, smudges, or spotting on the fabric. The vintage gold wooden frame shows only minor, negligible age-appropriate surface wear and remains completely structurally sound and secure.
