Iconic "We also make a funny-looking car" VW Microbus Vintage Ad Reproduction Poster
Own a defining piece of advertising and automotive history! This ultra-high-resolution reproduction print of the classic 1961 "We also make a funny-looking car" campaign perfectly captures the daring, self-deprecating genius of the Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB) agency. Building on the success of their legendary Beetle campaigns, this pivotal ad introduced the incredible utility of the unconventional VW Station Wagon (Microbus) to America.
The brilliant copy playfully leans into the vehicle's unique design, explaining how the VW station wagon, which "looks like a bus," offers a staggering 170 cubic feet of space, comfortably seats eight, and shares the same reliable air-cooled rear engine as its familiar sedan sibling. Today, this beautiful ad featuring a stunning two-tone red and white bus serves as an incredible piece of mid-century modern wall art. It's the perfect gift or decor upgrade for classic car enthusiasts, mechanics, graphic designers, or anyone looking to add authentic retro charm to their home, office, or garage.
