An especially desirable piece of Robert F. Kennedy campaign memorabilia from his historic 1968 presidential run. This large 3.5” portrait button reads “ELECT BOBBY KENNEDY PRESIDENT” in red and blue surrounding a black-and-white portrait of Kennedy. This exact design is documented by political memorabilia collectors and has been identified by specialist dealers as an original 1968 RFK presidential campaign button. Please note! All of my items are priced to sell specifically to an customer. I LOVE sourcing and collecting and have handpicked every item for its uniqueness, rarity or visual impact. I price them here on to share these things with other people like me who appreciate them. I simply try to make back what I spent, plus the time that goes into sourcing, cleaning, packing, etc. So please enjoy and shop!!Estate provenance: I acquired this button as part of a group of seven vintage presidential and campaign buttons from the estate of an antique dealer in Inglewood, California, who collected and restored antique radios. The group included period John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Barry Goldwater and Robert F. Kennedy buttons. Several of the other buttons retain period printer/manufacturer or union markings along their curled edges, while the two JFK buttons share an old handwritten inventory/price notation on their backs. This RFK button itself has no visible manufacturer or union identification along the curl, so I am not attributing it to a particular maker. Its construction, metal back, pin hardware and naturally aged surfaces are shown clearly in the photographs. The design dates to Kennedy’s 1968 campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. Kennedy announced his candidacy in March 1968 and campaigned until his assassination following the California primary in June, making original material specifically promoting his presidential candidacy a particularly focused area of American political collecting.Measures approximately 3.5 inches in diameter.Vintage condition with age-related surface wear, oxidation and discoloration to the metal back consistent with its age. The front remains striking and displays very well. It has been left exactly as found and has not been polished or restored. Please examine all photographs closely, including the back, pin and curled edge, as they form an important part of the description and condition assessment.A compelling original piece of 1968 RFK presidential campaign memorabilia, with the added context of having survived as part of an older California political-button collection.
