Antique hand-worked copper culinary mold featuring an unusual raised fish and crab marine-life design with decorative sunburst accents.
This beautiful old mold is constructed from formed copper with detailed repoussé/chased decoration. The interior is tin lined, and each end features a substantial cast brass handle secured to the body with copper rivets.
Construction is notably hand-worked throughout. The folded corners, edges, relief work, rivets and cast handles all show irregularities consistent with traditional hand fabrication rather than modern machine production.
Based on its materials, construction and comparable period copper molds, this piece appears consistent with late 19th to early 20th century examples, approximately 1880–1920, although it is unmarked and the exact age, maker and country of origin cannot be definitively established.
The marine design is particularly unusual, featuring one detailed crab and one fish rather than the twin-fish pattern seen on some comparable antique copper molds.
