There’s something wonderfully tender about this antique cabinet card photograph, circa 1900. A formally dressed gentleman sits in a wicker chair, gently cradling his little dog and nuzzling its face.
It’s an unusually affectionate moment for a formal studio portrait, and that connection between the two is what makes this photograph so appealing.
The photograph is mounted on a decorative embossed black cabinet-card mount with an ornate oval design.
Condition: This photograph has significant age-related damage, including extensive spotting, scratches, surface abrasion, fading and areas of photographic emulsion loss. The deterioration is especially noticeable in the upper portion and around the edges of the image. The man\'s face and the dog\'s face remain visible, and the charming interaction between them can still be clearly seen.
