This exceptional piece of Southern agricultural history is deeply embossed with crisp, completely legible block lettering that reads:
"R.H. WILSON / COTTON FACTOR / GREENWOOD - MISS."
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Greenwood, Mississippi was globally recognized as a premier marketplace for the trade, earning it the moniker "Cotton Capital of the World." A "Cotton Factor" served as a critical financial broker, lending credit and managing major crop sales for regional planters.
