Wonderful c. 1930\'s Religious Hand Fan.
Previously removed from a portion of scrapbook page, with residual glue and paper loss on reverse. Ephemera in scrapbook dated c. 1935-1940\'s.
Advertises businesses from Crawfordsville, Indiana, on reverse.
Measures approx. 7 3/4\" x 10 1/2\" at widest/longest extents.
Most church and funeral home advertising fans from this era are shaped like basic rounded shields or palettes stapled to a flat wooden stick. This fan is a single-piece die-cut model, meaning the cardboard itself extends down to form the handle. Its angular, geometric silhouette is a classic hallmark of the early Art Deco movement.
Single-piece cardboard fans are incredibly fragile compared to wood-handled fans. They easily bent, creased, or tore at the neck during heavy use. Seeing one where the thin cardboard handle has completely survived without being torn off or taped back together makes it a highly desirable piece for ephemera collectors.
Any questions just ask. Will ship with extra care.
