Item Description:
Up for sale is a truly remarkable piece of early 20th-century American folk art—an original antique Victorian/Edwardian era handmade pin cushion intricately constructed using recycled lithographed advertising tin.
Built in the traditional style of a miniature footstool or parlor armchair, this unique piece of primitive "tramp art" or tin-can work features tightly rolled, looped, and crimped metal strips cradling its original stuffed orange fabric cushion.
A spectacular, hidden detail makes this piece highly valuable: a close inspection of the white, blue, and gold-yellow lithographed lettering on the rolled metal edges reveals that the crafter meticulously upcycled a genuine vintage 1910s/1920s Maxwell House Coffee tin to build this piece!
