**Item Description:**
Up for sale is an authentic, original 1850s Daguerreotype double portrait featuring two young women (likely sisters). This is a genuine mirror-like silver plate image that displays exceptional facial clarity, showing off their highly detailed patterned 1850s Victorian day dresses and wide collar ribbons.**Format & Presentation:**
* Size: Standard 1/6 plate format (Plate is approx. 2.75\" x 3.25\").
* Housed in its original geometric scalloped brass mat with the original protective glass cover intact.
* Included is the original half-case base tray featuring a dark textured border and velvet-edged inner rail tracking. Please note: This is a half-case only; the front cover door/lid is missing.**Condition:**
The plate retains excellent contrast and sharp facial details. There is minor, normal age-appropriate tarnish/solarization strictly along the far perimeter edges hidden under the mat, which is standard for an uncleaned 170+ year old plate. The brass mat shows light aged spotting. The remaining half-case tray is structurally solid with typical corner and edge rubbing.**Shipping & Handling:**
Will be heavily double-padded in bubble wrap and sent via a sturdy cardboard shipping box to completely eliminate any risk of glass breakage or plate damage in transit.
