Antique mid-19th century cased portrait of a woman, likely an ambrotype, housed in a large ornate embossed case with decorative gilt mat and rich red velvet interior panel. Interior presents very well for its age and the portrait remains clearly visible.

Case is being sold AS IS due to age-related exterior wear and damage. The outside has substantial wear along the spine/edges and appears to have had adhesive or tape applied at some point, possibly to reinforce the case. One of the metal closure hooks is slightly bent, although the hooks can still be positioned to close the case. Please review all close-up photos carefully for condition and measurements.
