National Old Trails Road guide sign—Route 66 midpoint.
Up for sale today is this National Old Trails Road red, white and blue guide sign. Made to the exact standards as used around 1916-1919 by the Auto Club of Southern California. This guide sign is posted these days in Adrian, TX—technically not on the National Old Trails Road (which joins US-66 only from Santa Fe, NM westward to Los Angeles) but the association between Route 66 and the NOTR is such a strong one that the sign assembly in front of the Midpoint Cafe is a well-recognized US-66 landmark. (Or at least it was—the sign at that location seems to have gone missing at some point in the 2010s!)

An original of this style of guide sign, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars if it ever came to the market.
The sign is 12 by 9 inches, and weighs 2 lb. 12 oz.
This is a high quality, non-reflective replica sign printed on heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
