Vintage A. Antinori Roma Italian leather double playing-card box, believed to date to the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s–1960s.A particularly elaborate example of Antinori’s decorative leatherwork, featuring a distinctive sculpted double-deck form with two fitted compartments for playing cards.The brown leather exterior is extensively decorated with red and black playing-card suit motifs, gold detailing and tooling, including applied playing-card decorations on the sides. The underside is clearly marked A. ANTINORI ROMA.Other documented A. Antinori Roma card boxes and decorative leather pieces from this period show considerable variation in their hand-worked decoration. This example has an especially detailed playing-card theme and we have not located another example with this exact decorative treatment.The fitted lid and two-compartment interior remain intact. No playing cards are included.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate patina, surface marks, rubbing and edge wear.
