Rare 75-Piece Lot: Early 1910s U.S. State Flags & Seals Paper Cigarette Premiums
Description:This is an exceptional and large collection of 75 antique paper cigarette premiums dating from the early 1910s (circa 1912). These inserts were issued by the American Tobacco Company (ATC), likely as part of the desirable T59 Flags and Seals series, often found in brands like Recruit Little Cigars.
These pieces are distinguished by their subject matter:
U.S. State Flags (44 pieces): Including Arizona, California, Iowa, Mississippi, Texas, and more.
U.S. State Seals (31 pieces): Including Alabama, Minnesota, Oregon, and the historical Territory of Arizona.
Key Features:
Historical Significance: These items pre-date WWI and represent one of the major collectible fads of the era. The style of some of the flags (e.g., Mississippi, Vermont) reflects pre-modern designs.
Material: Printed paper cutouts.
Condition: Overall Very Good to Excellent for their age. Colors are vibrant. Please review all high-resolution photos to judge condition, as minor wear/creases are present on some edges, typical for 110+ year-old paper premiums.
Collector Interest: Highly sought after by collectors of Tobacciana and Americana/Vexillology due to the size of the lot and focus on early U.S. State subjects.
