Layered silver petals give the closed piece the look of a small flower sculpture. Opening it reveals the surprise that made Harmony Kingdom\'s box figurines so appealing: a miniature story tucked inside. Here, the tiny removable character is Lord Byron, the red-and-black ladybug of the Harmony Garden series.
It appeals to collectors of Harmony Kingdom, sterling silver, rose and floral art, ladybugs, miniature sculpture, and unusual trinket boxes.
ARTIST AND COLLECTION HISTORY
Martin Perry, Harmony Kingdom\'s artistic director, conceived the Harmony Garden flower-box concept. In an account of the collection\'s beginnings, Perry described working with two sculptors known as the Toolshed Associates on early flower boxes. The ladybug character was named Lord Byron by Lisa Yashon.
The line paired realistic flowers with playful interior scenes following Lord Byron\'s adventures. Harmony Kingdom became known for this blend of detailed small sculpture, concealed compartments, and stories discovered when a piece is opened.
Martin Perry and the Toolshed Associates are connected to the collection\'s development; I have not found documentation naming the individual sculptor or silversmith who made this particular sterling edition. A contemporary collector guide identifies the Single Silver Rose as a late-1990s edition limited to 1,000.
STERLING SILVER AND WEIGHT
The underside is marked “925 Sterling.” The closed rose reads 201.2 grams on the scale in the photographs, without the presentation box. That is approximately 6.47 troy ounces of total measured weight.
If the full measured weight were .925 sterling alloy, it would represent approximately 186.1 grams (5.98 troy ounces) of fine silver. This is a theoretical calculation, not an assay of the individual components; painted and any other nonsilver details can affect actual recoverable silver.
For a simple metal-value illustration, at a silver spot price of $60 per troy ounce, 5.98 troy ounces of fine silver would equal approximately $359 before any refining costs. Silver prices change, and this limited-edition collectible also has value as a complete work of decorative art.
CONDITION AND WHAT IS INCLUDED
You will receive the silver rose base, removable rose lid, removable Lord Byron miniature, and the green Harmony Kingdom presentation box shown in the photographs. The silver has visible toning and surface marks consistent with handling and age. Please review the close-up photographs for the precise appearance of the silver, painted details, markings, and box.
Please note: The inscription states the edition size of 1,000; no individual edition number is claimed here. Measurements are approximate. The 201.2 g scale reading excludes the presentation box.
