The outside forms a lush cluster of sculpted roses, with curling petals, layered leaves, bright silver highlights, and richly shaded recesses. Lift the lid and the quiet floral sculpture becomes a miniature scene: Lord Byron, recognizable by his red ladybug coloring, joins three little friends around a bonfire.
That hidden reveal is the charm of Harmony Kingdom\'s box figurines. The exterior invites display; the interior rewards a closer look. This is a piece for collectors of Harmony Kingdom, English silver, roses, floral sculpture, ladybugs, miniatures, and unusual trinket or vanity boxes.
MARTIN PERRY AND ROBERT GLOVER
Harmony Kingdom\'s Artistic Director Martin Perry designed the Double Sterling Rose, while acclaimed silver craftsman Robert Glover brought the design into sterling silver. Both are named in the original paperwork included with this piece.
The accompanying Harmony Kingdom brochure describes Glover\'s art training in London and his notable commissions, including silverwork associated with the British royal family and work for the Brit Awards. It gives this edition an unusually well-documented connection to both its designer and its silver craftsman.
Harmony Garden followed the adventures of Lord Byron, a lovesick ladybug whose stories were concealed inside flowers. After a series of colored double roses, this sterling edition offered the design in precious metal, strictly limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide.
NUMBERING AND HALLMARKS
A close-up photograph shows 0397 / 1500 on the base. Beneath the number are the British assay marks and Harmony Kingdom symbols. The included original guide explains them:
- Robert Glover sponsor\'s mark identifying the silver craftsman
- Lion mark and 925 mark identifying sterling silver fineness
- London Assay Office mark identifying the assay office
- Millennium mark shown in the accompanying hallmark guide
- Harmony Kingdom symbols: company logo, copyright symbol, star, and Martin Perry\'s “M”
The brochure explains that the star denotes a sculpture dating to 1998. The original Certificate of Authenticity confirms the solid sterling construction and edition limit. The certificate itself is not individually numbered; the individual number is on the silver piece.
SILVER WEIGHT AND METAL CONTENT
My scale displays 247.1 grams for the closed rose, with no presentation box or paperwork on the scale. I am listing the weight as approximately 247 grams, give or take a couple of grams because it is an older personal scale.
At 247 grams of .925 sterling, the theoretical fine-silver content is approximately 228.5 grams, or 7.35 troy ounces. The small colored area and measurement tolerance mean this is an estimate rather than a separate assay of every component.
Illustrative silver value: At $60 per troy ounce of fine silver, 7.35 troy ounces would represent approximately $441 in theoretical silver content before any refining costs. Spot prices change. This limited-edition artwork, its hallmarks, original box, and documentation add collector appeal beyond its metal content. BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE CONDITION · ORIGINAL MATERIALS
The rose presents in beautiful vintage condition, with an attractive silver patina that brings out the depth of the petals and miniature interior scene. Light surface marks consistent with age and careful handling may be visible, particularly in close-up photographs.
This listing includes the original Harmony Garden presentation box, the Harmony Kingdom Certificate of Authenticity, and the original foldout brochure describing Robert Glover and the hallmarks. The box and paper materials show light storage wear. Please review all photographs for the exact condition and everything included.
The signatures reproduced on the certificate are part of the issued certificate; this listing does not claim that the paper was individually hand-signed. The silver rose itself is individually numbered on its base.
