Up for sale is an incredibly rare, authentic 1911 Brotherhood Cut Plug Tobacco Premium Certificate. Manufactured under the American Tobacco Company umbrella, this historic piece of paper ephemera dates precisely to the legendary T206 / T205 baseball era.
What makes the Brotherhood line highly sought-after and incredibly unique is the jaw-dropping historical prize tier printed on the reverse: This paper insert explicitly advertises trading in certificates for a high-quality Artificial Arm or Leg.
During the harsh realities of the early Industrial Revolution, tobacco companies offered these utilitarian premiums to their blue-collar customer base of railroad workers, miners, and factory laborers who faced high workplace amputation rates. Because the vast majority of these paper inserts were mailed back to the factory and destroyed, surviving unredeemed examples are exceptionally scarce.
