Antique Victor E. Mauger Playing Card Collection with Leuchars & Son / Geffroy Succr. Paris Leather Card CaseOffered together is an unusual collection of 19th-century Victor E. Mauger New York playing cards accompanied by a fitted burgundy leather playing-card case marked “LEUCHARS & SON / GEFFROY SUCCR / PARIS” and “ENGLISH MAKE.”The Mauger cards feature elaborate Victor E. Mauger / New-York Ace of Spades designs with VEM monograms, square corners, no corner indices, double-ended illustrated court cards and matching ornamental backs in purple and green.Cards included:• One purple-backed 32-card deck — complete from 7 through Ace in all four suits (32/32).• Green-backed cards representing two matching 32-card decks — 63 of the 64 standard playing cards are present collectively. One Ace of Spades is absent.• Two additional matching green-backed blank-face cards.Total: 95 standard playing cards + 2 blank-face cards = 97 cards.The cards were found/stored together and have been sorted to establish the above inventory. Because the two green-backed decks are identical and the cards were intermixed when found, no attempt is made to attribute individual green cards or the two blank cards to one particular original pack.The leather case measures approximately 8” long × 4” wide × 2” high when closed. Its fitted interior contains two card-sized compartments separated by a central divider. The cards fit these compartments as shown in the photographs.Important: The playing cards were found/stored with this case and are being offered together, but I am not representing that the Victor E. Mauger cards were originally retailed with the Leuchars case.The cards and case show genuine age and use. Cards exhibit varying degrees of toning, foxing, staining and edge/handling wear. The leather case has wear to its exterior, corners, edges and interior consistent with age.
