Original vintage press photograph showing the Dixie Motor Co. automobile dealership and service station in Fort Myers, Florida.
The building is prominently marked DIXIE MOTOR CO., with large BUICK, PONTIAC and G.M.C. lettering across the exterior. A tall illuminated Pontiac / Buick dealer sign rises above the building. The service area includes period gasoline pumps, and a Standard Oil Products sign is visible at the right.
Research identifies Dixie Motor Co. at Second & Heitman Streets, Fort Myers, Florida. Period Fort Myers material lists the company as a dealer for Buick, Pontiac and GMC, matching the marques visible in this photograph.
This appears to be a press/commercial news photograph rather than an ordinary snapshot. The image bears the identifying number 32903 at lower right, with “32903 Post” handwritten on the reverse, suggesting an archival/editorial filing or publication notation. The reverse also appears to have the notation “No title.”
Measures approximately 4-1/8 x 6.5 inches.
Excellent Florida automotive-history image with strong crossover interest for collectors of Fort Myers history, press photography, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, General Motors dealerships, gas stations, Standard Oil, roadside architecture and early automobile commerce.
