Colorful lot of seven original vintage birthday greeting cards, circa 1940s–1950s, featuring wonderfully graphic mid-century illustrations. Designs include panda bears, a large puppy “4 Year Old” card, duck “2 Year Old” card, Horace Hippo, birthday-shower humor, and other whimsical children's imagery.
Several cards have especially strong display appeal with oversized cartoon animals, bright period colors, die-cut/scalloped details and humorous birthday sentiments. All appear to have been used and several contain handwritten names/messages. Age-related toning, handling wear, creases, edge wear, small tears/losses and scattered spotting are present, with the duck card showing more pronounced edge damage. A fun cohesive group for vintage greeting-card, paper ephemera, mid-century illustration or anthropomorphic animal collectors.
