The fashion detail is excellent: she wears a broad-brimmed cloche-style hat, pearl earrings, lace-trimmed collar, jewelry, fitted coat or dress, gloves, and a dramatic dark fur cape or stole. She also carries a small decorated handbag.
The combination of the hat, fur, gloves, purse and jewelry makes this a particularly appealing image for collectors of early 20th-century women’s fashion, costume history, vernacular photography and real photo postcards.
Printed on AZO photographic postcard stock. The stamp-box configuration is associated with approximately the 1918–1930 period, consistent with the woman’s clothing and accessories.
The postcard has an unusually narrow approximately 2.75 x 5.25 inch format. The edges and printed border appear consistent and I do not see obvious evidence that it was casually trimmed, though buyers should rely on the photographs for their own assessment.
