Offered for sale is an original c1910 Cornell University tobacco leather, dating to the early 20th-century tobacco-premium era.
This is a large-format collegiate leather measuring approximately 3.5” × 2.5” and features a striking Cornell red and silver design.
The leather features a large Cornell “C” pennant across the upper portion, an early rowing/crew scene with an oarsman on the water, and a period Cornell school yell repeated across the design:
“Cornell! Yell! Yell! Yell! Cornell!”
The combination of Cornell imagery, early rowing subject matter and school yell makes this an especially interesting piece of Ivy League and early collegiate athletic memorabilia.
Condition: Original antique condition with substantial age-related wear to the silver-colored finish. There is widespread cracking, flaking and loss of the silver surface, along with additional spotting, surface wear and edge/corner wear. The underlying red coloration remains strong, and the Cornell pennant, rowing scene and school yell remain clearly recognizable.
No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.
