Item Description
This is an Extremely rare super heavy, museum-quality 5-mineral cabinet specimen harvested from the iconic Amax Buick Mine in November 1982 by mineral collector and Miner Gerald Boyer. The piece exhibits the classic Mississippi Valley-Type (MVT) sulfide assemblage that made Missouri\'s Viburnum Trend famous worldwide.
The specimen features mirror-bright, heavily striated galena crystals with pronounced stepped and skeletal growth faces. Nestled throughout the galena matrix are brassy cockscomb marcasite blades, sharp golden chalcopyrite clusters, and well defined steel gray octahedral Siegenite crystals as well as fine crusts of the rare cobalt-nickel sulfide.
Siegenite is the classic signature mineral of the Buick locality. Pocket cavities (vugs) lined with pale, saddle-shaped dolomite rhombs provide contrast and structural depth. The underside retains Gerald Boyer’s original painted field provenance stamp (\"11/82\").
