Charming antique Whitney Halloween postcard, made in Worcester, Massachusetts, featuring a group of children gathered in a barn for a corn-husking party.

The front reads:

“IF WE WERE BOTH HERE

I BET I’D FIND A RED EAR”

The “red ear” refers to the old corn-husking courting tradition associated with finding a red ear of corn.

Beautifully colored with embossed detailing visible from the reverse.

Postally used with a 1917 postmark and original one-cent stamp.

Condition: Antique condition with age-related corner and edge wear, light surface wear, toning, and general handling wear. Light creasing is visible, including along the lower portion of the card. Please review all photos carefully for full condition.

A nice early Whitney Halloween postcard with unusual rural, courting, and corn-husking imagery.
