West Baden Springs, Indiana is a historic town in Orange County best known for the spectacular West Baden Springs Hotel, an architectural marvel once dubbed the "Eight Wonder of the World". Located about a mile north of its sister town, French Lick, the town has a population of just over 500 people and shares a rich history tied to luxury tourism, mineral springs, and sports.The hotel's most productive natural spring, Spring No. 7, was named the Sprudel Spring. It pumped out roughly 12 gallons of fizzy, mineral-rich water per minute. The hotel bottled this commercially and sold it nationwide as "Sprudel Water", marketing it as a miracle cure-all for ailments ranging from gout to malaria (though in reality, its high mineral content mostly just made it a highly effective natural laxative)
