Later in the description, learn about the 7th Cavalry Regiment. This piece was tailored by the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot Dated Oct 10, 1935. There was actually 4 other coats that the PQMD had produced by the end of the war in April 1945. Obviously this fellow liked the look of the older coat. This scout had an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal: For service in the Pacific theater with a bronze star. This means he fought during a noted U.S. campaign. He also has an occupation medal. This means that he had at least 30 days of occupation in an area that was once under occupation.HISTORY OF 7th CAVALRY REGIMENT The 7th Cavalry fought completely dismounted during WWII. Part of the 1st Cavalry Division, the regiment officially gave up its horses on February 28, 1943. From that point on, they reorganized and fought entirely as dismounted infantry in the Pacific Theater. While they lost their horses, this did not mean they reverted strictly to marching everywhere on foot. Here is how their combat and movement actually worked in practice:• Infantry Tactics: They fought on foot in the dense, rugged terrain of New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago, and the Philippines.• Mechanized Transport: For movement, they were transported via ships, landing craft, and motorized vehicles (like trucks and half-tracks) rather than riding into battle.• The "Flying Column": Despite fighting dismounted, they maintained high mobility. In January 1945, the regiment made a famous, rapid advance using motorized vehicles to cover over 100 miles in 66 hours to liberate Allied prisoners at the Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila. All WWII VETERANS ARE HEROES
