Imperial Japanese Navy Sailor Cap with Kure Naval Barracks Tally
Vintage Imperial Japanese Navy sailor cap discovered in long-term storage in Japan.
The black cap tally features gold Japanese lettering reading “呉海兵團” (Kure Kaiheidan / Kure Naval Barracks).
The two ends of the tally feature gold anchor designs.
An old Japanese Navy issue/manufacturing label also remains attached inside the cap. The label includes the marking “横須賀衣糧科” (Yokosuka Clothing Department) as well as fields for identification, issue date, size and manufacturing information.
The chin cord also remains with the cap.
Condition:
Considering its age, the cap remains in good overall vintage condition.
There are some small holes / areas of insect damage on the top of the cap. Some areas may appear lighter in the photographs due to lighting, but the surrounding material is dark navy blue.
There are also age-related signs of wear, dust, discoloration, stains and deterioration from long-term storage.
Please carefully examine all photographs for the exact condition, markings and details.
The item has not been professionally authenticated or historically researched. Please judge the age and authenticity based on the photographs and markings shown.
Everything shown in the photographs is included.
A very interesting historical piece for collectors of Imperial Japanese Navy, Japanese militaria and WWII-era naval items.
