RareEarly WWI Bausch & Lomb 6x30 "Prism Stereo" U.S. Marine CorpsBinoculars – Serial #2609 with Original Working Compass Leather Case
Upfor sale is a fascinating piece of military optics history. This is anauthentic, early World War I-era Bausch & Lomb 6x30 Prism Stereo binocularset explicitly stamped for the U.S. Marine Corps.
Whatmakes this specific set highly collectible is the incredibly low Serial Number:2609. Most surviving contract binoculars from this era feature later six-digitserial numbers. This four-digit number indicates it was part of a very earlyproduction run delivered right at the dawn of U.S. military mobilization.
Mechanical & Body: The binoculars are in good, solid structural condition. Please note that a previous owner appears to have painted the body black over the original finish/wrap (see photos). Optics: The lenses and internal prisms are intact with no major cracks, but they will require a professional cleaning as there is typical internal dust/haze consistent with age.CaseCondition:
- Overall: The original military leather case is in very good condition. The leather remains sturdy, and the stitching is intact.
- Compass: Features the highly coveted built-in lid compass, which is fully intact and in working condition (the needle spins freely). These compasses are frequently found broken or missing, making this case a rare find on its own.
Pleasereview all photos carefully to judge the cosmetic condition for yourself. Thisis an incredible restoration project or an excellent
additionto any WWI, USMC, or military optics collection. Sold as-is. Shipping includestracking and insurance.
