Item DescriptionVintage hand-painted commemorative German souvenir beer stein (Bierkrug) manufactured in Germany to celebrate the historic fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. This unique tankard serves as a beautiful historic capsule, showcasing a panoramic, high-relief three-panel showcase of Berlin\'s most iconic architectural monuments. The central front panel proudly features the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) under a raised \"Berlin\" banner text. The side panels intricately depict the Siegessäule (Victory Column) and the Luftbrückendenkmal (Berlin Airlift Memorial), highlighted by detailed scrolling border work and architectural decorative motifs. The crown jewel of this collectible is its domed pewter flip lid, which comes mounted with an authentic, jagged fragment of the actual concrete Berlin Wall. The lid surface itself is beautifully embossed with the identifying text: \"Original stone from Berlin wall\".The base carries an official production backstamp verifying this piece is from Serie 113, individually numbered as No. 1972 out of 2000 pieces worldwide, guaranteed by WW-Team and marked \"Made in West Germany\".Note: The number is hand-written using a traditional European script, where the hand-written number \"1\" features a sharp front hook that resembles a number 7.Included with the stein is a vintage \"German Translations\" informational sheet distributed by Owl Imports / Music Boxes out of Greenfield, WI, which provides English translations for traditional German tavern toasts and brewery proverbs.Size:
- Height: Stands 8.5 inches tall to the top rim of the pewter lid (extends to approximately 8 inches tall when including the height of the attached stone fragment).
- Width: Approximately 3.75 inches wide across the bottom base (extends to approx. 5 inches wide when measuring outward to the edge of the handle).
Condition:
- Excellent vintage condition with no chips, structural fractures, deep glaze cracks, or heavy paint loss across the detailed ceramic relief body.
- The hand-painted accents are vibrant, well-saturated, and highly detailed.
- The item exhibits typical minor signs of age and display, including faint surface scuffs along the base rim, light age-appropriate patina to the pewter lid, and localized shelf dust in the deeper relief crevices, but nothing major or structurally detracting.
- The pewter flip lid sits completely flush against the ceramic rim, operating on a tight, smoothly running hinge with the stone fragment firmly mounted in place.
