L.E. Smith Black Art Glass Vase w/ Flower Frog Greek Key
Manufacturer: Produced by the L.E. Smith Glass Company out of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.
Era: This exact pattern (known sometimes as the No. 4 Fern Bowl or Tripod Censer) was produced during the Depression / Art Deco era, roughly between 1926 and 1937.
Material: While it looks opaque black, it is actually "Black Amethyst" glass. If you hold the glass directly up to a very bright light source (like a flashlight or window), you will see a deep, dark purple translucent glow around the edges.
Styling Elements: It features an Art Deco tripod design with three distinct curved feet, a textured band showcasing a classic geometric Greek Key motif around the rim, and its original 16-hole fitted insert lid (the "flower frog") used to hold individual flower stems upright for floral arrangements.
It is stamped Ellie Smith made in USA in the bottom.
It does have some flea bites around a couple of the holes and on one edge of the flower frog.
There is some silver decoration that has been worn off on the edges.
