Lot074Vintage German Erzgebirge Wooden Soldier Guard Nutcracker with Box - Handcrafted GDR (Flaws / Repaired)
Up for sale is an authentic, vintage hand-painted wooden toy soldier guard nutcracker handcrafted in the historic Erzgebirge region of East Germany (GDR). Standing approximately 14 inches tall, this traditional piece features a classic Prussian blue uniform, red trousers, black boots, and a matching shako hat with stamped gold flower stencils. It includes its original gold and black halberd/poleaxe weapon accessory and comes housed in a vintage geometric-patterned storage box.
The raw wood bottom displays the classic lathe-turned concentric grain pattern signature to authentic, regional German workshop pieces.
Condition Details & Flaws (Please Review Photos Closely):
This item is in vintage, pre-owned condition with specific flaws noted below:
• Arm Repair: There is a heavy, visible clear hot glue repair where the left arm connects to the shoulder joint. The arm is securely attached but the glue residue is prominent.
• Eye Paint Factory Flaw: The white painted pupil detailing is missing on his left eye, appearing to be an original manufacturing oversight.
• General Wear: Minor paint loss and overlapping paint lines are present around the circular base, boot ankles, and hat rim. The box shows standard vintage shelf and edge wear.
A beautiful, authentic piece of German holiday craftsmanship offered at a discount due to its vintage flaws!
