Vintage TNOW LTD Hand-Painted Father Christmas Gourd — Limited Edition #392/750

A beautifully detailed vintage Father Christmas created from a natural gourd and transformed into a wonderfully dimensional folk-art holiday sculpture.

The craftsmanship is what makes this Santa special. Rather than simply painting the gourd, the artist created extensive raised, textured details throughout the piece. Santa’s flowing beard, hood, coat trim and fur are built up with substantial relief texture, giving the sculpture an almost carved appearance. His expressive hand-painted face, soft ivory beard and fur, dark robe, and delicate gold decorative accents create a wonderful Old World Christmas character.

The natural gourd form gives each sculpture its own individual shape and character.

The piece is marked:

TNOW LTD.

#392/750

Additional handwritten artist/production markings are present on the gourd and are shown clearly in the photographs.

Why this piece is interesting:

This is not a generic molded Christmas figurine. This is a natural gourd with extensive dimensional surface work, painted details, individually painted face, applied textured beard/hair, and hand-finished decoration giving it the genuine folk-art character of Santa.

The #392/750 marking establishes it as a numbered limited edition, and because the body is a natural gourd, the underlying form would naturally vary from piece to piece.

It comes from a smoke-free home.

Because it is a natural gourd, it features organic contours and is beautifully lightweight.
