Up for sale is a beautiful, highly stylized vintage hand-carved wooden wall hanging depicting a cockatoo bird. Dating back to the 1960s-70s, this piece perfectly captures the Mid-Century Modern Hawaiian and Polynesian Pop aesthetic popularized by Witco.
• Design Details: Features dramatic, deeply grooved layered grain patterns with scorched/stained wood accents. Finished with a striking, inset bright blue eye characteristic of mid-century Japanese woodcarving exports.
• Material: Carved wood (possibly Cryptomeria/Japanese Cedar or pine).
• Condition: Good vintage condition with beautiful natural patina. It has a chip on the back/side, a couple of holes on the back and other smaller imperfections. Displays beautifully. Please review all photos for a detailed look at the condition and craftsmanship, as well as for all flaws!
A perfect statement piece for any MCM, Hawaiian bar, or Brutalist art collection!
