Very special handmade studio pottery vase created by a local Virginia artist who does not typically sell her work to the public. The piece seems to be inspired by traditional Japanese Bizen stoneware, with an earthy, unglazed appearance, natural color variation, and slightly rough tactile surface.
The tall sculptural form features a rectangular, subtly faceted body that transitions into a long narrow neck with a gently flared opening. Terracotta, rust, brown, gray, and ash-like tones create organic abstract patterns across the exterior. Its restrained form and earthy finish give it a beautiful Japanese-inspired wabi-sabi character.
A unique piece of Virginia studio pottery and a wonderful choice for collectors of handmade ceramics, Japanese-inspired design, ikebana, wabi-sabi, or one-of-a-kind artisan home decor.
The artist does not usually offer her pottery for public sale, making this an especially unusual piece to come across.
