The Vintage Usaburo Kokeshi Doll is a hand-crafted wooden collectible from Japan that showcases traditional Japanese culture. This unique piece is signed by the creative studio, adding to its authenticity and charm. Each doll is handmade, making them one-of-a-kind and adding to their appeal as collectible items. Perfect for those interested in Asian cultures and ethnicities, these Kokeshi dolls are a beautiful representation of Japanese craftsmanship and design.
The handwritten ink text on the lower back of the doll reads \"卯三郎 作\" (Usaburo saku).卯三郎 (Usaburo): The given name of the master artisan, Usaburo Okamoto (1917–2009).作 (Saku): A formal Japanese kanji suffix meaning \"made by\" or \"created by\".
Having both the original paper label on the base and this hand-painted studio signature directly on the wood is the ideal signature combination for a creative kokeshi doll. While the workshop employs multiple craftsmen, signatures following this exact handwritten style indicate the doll is an official, authorized signature design originating directly from the Usaburo Kokeshi main studio line rather than a cheaper, unsigned mass-market replica.
