Beautiful vintage turned hardwood treen lidded jar with a warm, rich patina and especially attractive natural wood grain. The piece has a rounded, bulbous form with decorative turned rings around the upper body and a fitted domed lid topped with a small finial. The underside of the lid and base show visible turning marks consistent with lathe-turned wood construction.Measures approximately 5” high overall, about 3” across the top, and approximately 13” around the widest part of the base. Weighs approximately 10.5 oz.Very nice vintage condition overall. The wood shows several age-related drying/check lines, along with a couple of tiny nicks. The very tip of the lid finial appears slightly nicked or worn. Please see photographs for condition and detail.Unmarked. Wood species is unknown; it is a substantial, dense hardwood.A handsome decorative treen piece that could have originally served as a tobacco jar, storage pot, or covered container.
