DescriptionUp for sale is a striking, authentic vintage wooden festival mask from the celebrated artisan community of Tigua, Ecuador. Known worldwide for their vibrant \"naïf\" painting style, Tigua artists create these pieces to represent ancestral spirits and animals central to Andean folklore and festivals like Corpus Christi. This piece beautifully depicts a canine spirit (wolf or fox) in a bold, fiery red color palette accented with expressive black brushstrokes and stark white eyes. It features a beautifully sculpted, contoured muzzle and deep-cut eye apertures. A white hanging string is threaded through the bridge of the nose, making it ready to display as a unique piece of wall decor.Condition Report

• Front:The painted surface remains highly vibrant with excellent gloss. There is minimal paint loss on the forward-facing mask, showing only minor shelf wear consistent with age.
• Reverse:The back reveals the raw, hand-carved nature of the wood with manual chisel marks and red paint overrun along the borders. There is some minor flaking and chipping of the paint layer along the top reverse rim.
• Important Note:There are vintage, inactive wood-boring insect holes (woodworm/powderpost beetle) visible primarily on the unfinished back and edges of the wood (please review all photos carefully). The wood is structurally sound, stable, and ready for collection.
