History of Wicker Bamboo Animals:• Originated in 1966 by bamboo weaving master Yu Zhang Gen in Shengxian County, Zhejiang, China
• A comprehensive art form that includes design, mold-making, weaving, assembly, and the application of paint and varnish
• Each design was assigned a unique serial number
• Shengxian County Artistic Bamboo Weaving Factory was renowned for its craftsmanship and wicker animal designs
• Initially exported by Shanghai Handicrafts, and later by the Zhejiang Handicrafts Import-Export Corporation due to the factory’s lack of direct trading rights with foreign countries.
