Vintage mid-century (1965) ceramic lidded canister modeled as a ball of string, made in Italy by Mancioli for the American importer Raymor. The body and lid are deeply molded with overlapping strands and a raised “tie” band around the middle. Exterior is a warm cream/ivory matte glaze that picks up the texture. Interior is glazed, with the brown streaking typical of this series. Lid lifts off for use as a canister, trinket box, or display piece.Base is marked with the Mancioli crowned-M device, MANCIOLI / MADE IN ITALY, Raymor, and 18C5. Large examples of this string-ball form measure about 6” high by 6” across and are associated with the mid-1960s production (smaller sizes are dated 1966–68).Approximate size: 6” high × 6” wide.Condition: Excellent - no chips or cracks. From the photos there are no obvious chips or cracks. Note any rim nicks, lid fit, hairlines, or glaze skips. The interior brown lines look like glaze variation, not damageShips carefully packed in double boxes with plenty of padding. Lid secured so it cannot shift.
