Up for sale is a beautiful and exceptionally rare, large-scale Japanese vintage lacquerware vase made by Maruni during the post-WWII Allied occupation era.
This piece stands out significantly due to its size, measuring just over 12 inches tall with a dramatic 9-inch flared diameter at the top rim. Most surviving pieces from this era are much smaller, making this a true statement display item.
It features a stunning, glossy, marbled deep crimson red finish and has a heavy, high-quality feel. The front is beautifully hand-painted with a classic autumn chrysanthemum blossom in shades of orange and metallic gold/bronze pigments. The back depicts a cherry blossom (Sakura) in bloom.

Condition Note:
This vintage piece is in good overall structural condition but shows honest signs of age. There are surface scratches and light scuffs present on the finish (please review all photos closely). There are no major cosmetic issues or structural cracks. The interior is clean. It has been kept in a smoke-free home.

Due to the age of mid-century Urushi lacquerware, this vase is recommended for display or use with faux/dry florals only. Avoid filling with water or placing in direct sunlight.
