Heavy Pair • Solid Brass Collection • Mid-Century Style • ~6–6.5" Tall
Vintage pair of solid brass mallard duck head bookends by Leonard Silver Mfg. Co. from their “Solid Brass Collection.” Please note, as all such items of this type, the "solid brass" refers to the metal portion of the bookends. They are all filled inside with a ballast material such as cement or sand. The "solid brass" simply differentiates these from those that are "brass plated".
These classic mid-century style bookends feature detailed duck/mallard heads with a warm brass finish. Each stands approximately 6 to 6.5 inches tall. They are heavy (3 lbs total) and substantial despite the hollow construction common to this line.
Leonard Silver Mfg. Co. was founded by Leonard Florence in the late 1960s (originally in Chelsea, Massachusetts) and specialized in affordable brass and silver-plated giftware. The company later merged with Towle. These bookends were made in Korea and carry the original foil label reading “Leonard Silver Mfg. Co. Solid Brass Collection Korea.”
Condition: Good vintage condition with some patina/tarnish spots and minor surface wear consistent with age. Bottoms felted. See photos.
