Vintage Kutahia Athens decorative pottery plate, handmade in Greece and featuring a wonderfully atmospheric view of the Parthenon and Acropolis.
The scene is rendered in an expressive painterly style with black, green, yellow and muted rose details beneath a bright blue sky. Architectural ruins frame the foreground, giving the plate an almost mid-century modern artwork quality rather than the more traditional Greek-key decoration often seen on souvenir pottery.
The reverse bears the green Kutahia Athens – Handmade in Greece mark and is numbered 502. Two factory-made holes in the raised foot allow the plate to be hung for display; an older hanging cord/wire is currently attached.
