The Isaly's Rainbow Skyscraper Ice Cream Scoop is the specialized scoop used to serve the legendary, towering Skyscraper ice cream cones served at historic Isaly’s dairy stores across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
In 1910, dairy entrepreneur William Isaly increased standard ice cream portions from two ounces to four ounces at his plant in Mansfield, Ohio, aiming to attract more adult buyers.
The massive portions became immensely popular. By the 1920s, the towering, pointed creations—rising several inches high above the cone—earned the name "Skyscraper" cones.
Isaly's purchased the rights and patents to a unique, pointy-tipped ice cream scoop from the Rainbow Company around 1929.Unlike standard hemispherical scoops, the Rainbow/Skyscraper scoop was shaped to form a distinctive, elongated, and pointed peak of ice cream.
