Wonderful vintage recipe collection assembled from two separate household/estate collections, all together in an attractive vintage wooden recipe box.
This is a large assortment of mostly handwritten family recipes, along with some typed recipes, advertising/promotional recipe cards, newspaper or magazine clippings, notes, menus and other cooking-related pieces accumulated over many years.
The collection has a great old-fashioned, personal feel. These are not modern reproduced recipe cards — many were clearly actually used in the kitchen, with handwriting, corrections, ingredient substitutions, cooking notes and the occasional food stain or splash.
Recipes seen throughout the collection include cakes, breads, desserts, poultry, beef dishes, soups, sauces, vegetables and many others. Examples shown include:
Orange Ring Cake, Zucchini Bread, Tomato Soup Cake, Sweet Chocolate Cake, Beef Burgundy, Orange Sauce for Chicken or Ham, pineapple cheesecake, Middle Eastern dishes, French soups and numerous other handwritten recipes.
Also included are the vintage alphabetical A-Z recipe dividers, along with additional category/divider cards.
Everything comes in the wooden hinged recipe box shown in the photographs. The box has an attractive dark exterior with a lighter wood interior and shows normal age/use wear.
Condition: This is an old, used collection. Recipe cards and papers vary considerably in condition. Expect age toning, yellowing, stains, creases, edge wear, small tears, handwriting and other signs of kitchen use and storage. The wooden box also has scratches and general wear from age. Please study the photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
I have not attempted to sort, clean, rewrite or separate the recipes. You will receive the collection essentially as found.
A terrific lot for a collector of vintage recipes, kitchen memorabilia, handwritten ephemera, Americana, scrapbooking or culinary history. There could be some real forgotten family recipes tucked away in this box.
Sold as one complete collection with box and dividers.
